In March, The Bold and the Beautiful‘s Thomas Forrester, once again, asked Hope to marry him. Unfortunately for the ex-Hope for the Future designer, she didn’t say yes to him or the dress. Shortly after conferring with his sister Steffy, he decided to lick his wounds in the City of Lights. He and his son Douglas left Los Angeles, but guess what? They are back from Paris!

Thomas Forrester Returns

Matthew Atkinson’s reentry into the B&B universe is imminent, Friday, June 21, to be exact. Soap Opera Digest reported the news. During his absence from the show, the actor and his new wife, Brytnee, took advantage of the time off and traveled. This included a dream trip to England, Scotland, and Ireland. “We’ve just been moving and grooving,” he tells Digest.

When Thomas pops back up at Forrester Creations, his reappearance should shake things up. “Thomas has had one particular very large change in his since he left town,” Atkinson teases. “And when he comes back, it is something that shocks everyone.”

Is it someone new in his life? Thomas needs to be prepared for his own shock if and when he finds out Hope has feelings for another man, namely, his sister’s husband. Fortunately, for now, Thomas remains unaware of Hope’s (Annika Noelle) one-sided feelings for Finn (Tanner Novlan). “He knows nothing about it, and so maybe that helps my point of view.”

However, having played Thomas for over five years, Atkinson says he isn’t surprised the show would mix things up and explore the Hope/Finn dynamic. “If I was going to draw out a few things that the show might try, that would be one of ’em.”

While Thomas was away, a lot happened, and it’s unclear what the designer knows and doesn’t know. For example, Ridge recently named Brooke, co-CEO, and Steffy (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood). Is Ridge’s (Thorsten Kaye) power move the catalyst that causes him to resurface in Los Angeles?

But there’s also Sheila’s (Kimberlin Brown) resurrection and subsequent marriage to Deacon (Sean Kanan), RJ’s (Joshua Hoffman) and Zende’s (Delon de Metz) conflict, and their joining the HFTF team, Steffy’s attempting to shut down Hope for the Future, Luna (Lisa Yamada) being Bill’s (Don Diamont) daughter, and so much more. Thomas’s unpredictability means each of these situations could trigger a gamut of emotions and reactions.

“When I’m coming in, I’m only [finding out] the information coming back that would’ve been revealed naturally. So, it makes it a whole lot easier in developing reactions when you’re shooting these scenes. So there’s probably a huge wealth of things that happened that I don’t even know about.”
