Days of our Lives Comings & Goings: Here’s When Cherie Jimenez Debuts as the New Gabi Hernandez

Is Days of Our Lives‘ Gabi Hernandez about to get out of Statesville? Signs are looking up since there’s a new Gabi on the prison block. Cherie Jimenez makes her debut next week. Her first airdate is Thursday, June 27.

Deadline was the first to report the specific details about Jimenez’s debut. For months, viewers have only heard about Gabi’s prison life from Stefan (Brandon Barash), which includes a broken leg and time in solitary.
However, it’s a well-known fact that Gabi’s being framed for killing her ex, Li Shin (Remington Hoffman), and shouldn’t be behind bars in the first place. Ever since her incarceration, Stefan has tried everything to set Gabi free. Her husband’s most recent attempt — blackmailing his brother EJ (Daniel Feuerriegel) to get his district attorney job back to reopen Gabi’s case — seems to be the thing that finally may work.
Jiminez takes over the role, which was last portrayed by Camila Banus, who played Rafe’s ambitious and devious younger sister on and off since 2010. Back in April, Peacock’s Instagram account for DAYS teased the New York actress’s arrival with a mysterious post featuring her and a new co-star, Al Calderon, stating, “We’re seeing some newcomers in Salem! Meet Cherie Jimenez and Al Calderon – Hmmmm, who could they be?!?!⏳.”
There is no exact word on who Calderon will play, although many suspect he may have been cast as Dario, another Hernandez sibling (that Jordi Vilasuso previously played). As for Jiminez, the daytime newcomer has extensive experience on TV, including three episodes of Max’s Banshee and guest appearances on NCIS, The Newsroom, and Pretty Little Liars. Plus, she starred in the Lifetime movie Angie: Lost Girls and its sequel, Maya.
When viewers finally see Gabi again, will she still be in prison? Or will she be free and clear to say, attempt revenge on whoever is responsible for framing her? There’s also the matter of her husband working for Clyde Weston (James Read) and sleeping with Ava (Tamara Braun).
