Mykelti (Brown) Padron is reflecting on how the sudden death of her half sibling Garrison Brown has brought their family closer together.

Mykelti, the daughter of Sister Wives stars Christine and Kody Brown, shared on her Patreon that she had traveled to Arizona for Garrison’s funeral over the weekend.

“I was in Flagstaff last week with my husband and all of my family. It was for obvious reasons. My brother passed away,” she said in a clip shared on the Instagram account @withoutacrystalball. “It sucked a lot.”

The mother of three told her followers that she is trying to find the silver lining amid the family tragedy.

“I always like to look at the bright side of everything,” explained Mykelti, 27. “The bright side of his passing is he’s obviously not longer in pain or hurting or sad ‘cause he’s in a better place. At least, I hope he’s in a better place.”

She continued, “The other bright side is I’ve got to see all of my family together for the first time in years. And I think that ultimately, obviously, Garrison would have been happy by that.”

Mykelti added Garrison would have wanted the family to keep moving forward, sharing, “The other thing I know about Garrison is he wouldn’t have wanted us all to stop living our life or stop what we need to do and what we want to do and hobbies and extracurricular activities … he wouldn’t want us to stop it.”

The TLC star added the family will continue to pay tribute to Garrison at upcoming events.

“We do have some more things for him, in honor of him, coming up this next month and some more in the next couple of months,” she said. “There’s a Brown family reunion in Wyoming. And a lot of my family, most of them, are going to honor him.”

She then requested that followers give her and the Brown family privacy as they navigate the grieving process.

“Please don’t ask me any questions about Garrison or about my family. Not my family, sorry, about the events around this,” she shared. “You can ask questions about my family, but not about events around this because I will break down crying.”

“I think most of my siblings, we’ve all pretty much agreed that none of our life is private, really, because our parents are public and the show. But this is ours. This is private,” she added.

Mykelti also penned a touching tribute to Garrison on social media Monday. After sharing two quotes about pain and experiencing love, Mykelti wrote, “My heart breaks for my brother who’s no longer with us but it rejoices knowing he’s with his fellow warriors in Valhalla drinking and fighting with Odin.”

“I hope he is loving his place amongst the stars,” she continued. “Garrison was always the funniest person in the room. He was one cool dude and I cry so much because my kinda will never be able to experience his fun presence. But he will live on in all my families memories. Have fun up with the stars little bro, you’re missed.”

On March 5, the son of Janelle and Kody Brown was found dead in his home. At the time, Lieutenant Charles M. Hernandez II of the Flagstaff Police Department told PEOPLE that officers responded to a report of a death inside a home and confirmed that Garrison’s brother Gabriel, 22, had “discovered Mr. Brown deceased” in an apparent suicide.

Lt. Hernandez’s statement continued, “At this time there is not any indication of foul play, and Detectives from the Criminal Investigations Division are investigating.”

Shortly after the news, Janelle and Kody shared a statement to Instagram confirming the death of their son.

“Kody and I are deeply saddened to announce the loss of our beautiful boy Robert Garrison Brown, He was a bright spot in the lives of all who knew him,” she captioned a series of photos of her son. “His loss will leave such a big hole in our lives that it takes our breath away. We ask that you please respect our privacy and join us in honoring his memory.” (Kody also posted the same statement on his own Instagram page.)
